An electro-mijwez, shamstep, choubi band. The Palestinian-Jordanian outfit 47 Soul single-handedly sowed the seeds of the shamstep genre, combining the sounds of Dabke with Western electronica, as heard on their groundbreaking 2015 debut EP Shamstep.

I forget who exactly told me to check out Souleyman's work, but if I ever remember it I'm going to make sure to tell them I really appreciated it. The way that the percussive elements seem to guide and then weave through the front of the track really caught my attention. In general there's a strong sense of flow to how things move, leading into hooks that really allow Souleyman's voice to shine.
